Despite the cold weather that we’ve had recently, Voyageur Flooring has been hard at work helping homeowners in the Twin Cities with their hardwood flooring needs. One of our most recent customers in St. Louis Park (a Minneapolis suburb) asked Voyageur Flooring to refinish their hardwood floors. The hardwood floor turned out great and is a wonderful example of the quality of work that Voyageur Flooring is committed to! Take a look below and see for yourself or you can visit our newly designed Before and After Gallery on our site…
Often times we at Voyageur Flooring here the question: how long does hardwood floor refinishing take? Although every hardwood floor is different, hardwood floor refinishing usually takes 2-3 days. Our goal at Voyageur Flooring is to sand the hardwood floor on day one. Upon completion of hardwood floor sanding, Voyageur Flooring then thoroughly cleans the hardwood floor by vacuuming the hardwood floor. Once the hardwood floor surface has been cleaned, Voyageur Flooring will apply one coat of water based polyurethane. That usually concludes day one. Day two Voyageur Flooring buffs the hardwood floor and applies another coat of water based polyurethane to the hardwood floor. This step is repeated by the end of the second day. In some cases with older Minneapolis/St. Paul homes, the hardwood floor needs extra sanding or perhaps repair and in these cases its not uncommon to have the process take three days. Minnesota Hardwood Flooring – Special offer to Realtors and Real Estate Investors from Voyageur Flooring
Voyageur Flooring has created a new program for REALTORS and Real Estate investors. Our new program allows homeowners who need to refinish their hardwood floors, as part of preparing their home for the market, the opportunity to have the work done and then pay Voyageur Flooring when the home sells. Voyageur Flooring knows that homes going on the market need to be crisp and clean in order to compete with other homes on the market in a time when the inventory of homes is high. Our program for REALTORS and investors is simple: if your client or your home needs its wood floors refinished, Voyageur Flooring will refinish the hardwood floors for 50% up front, and when the home closes, we collect the balance from the homeowner. If the listing should expire, Voyageur Flooring will collect the balance when the listing expires. As a REALTOR, offering this service to your clients is a must. It will make the home look better and hopefully sell more quickly. It also offers REALTORS a way to distinguish oneself from competition by aligning your business with a company such as Voyageur Flooring who is willing to work with homeowners and help in the preparation process. If you have questions or want more information on Voyageur Flooring‘s new program, please don’t hesitate to call Jake Witham (Director of Business Development) and he will give you more details. Voyageur Flooring is owned by three brothers who love to fish. Recently Voyageur Flooring was hired to travel to northern Minnesota to install wood flooring in a new cabin being built on a lake. As fisherman, we always have time to get up north! If you own a cabin but live down here in the Twin Cities, Voyageur Flooring will consider traveling to your cabin to install your hardwood flooring or refinish existing wood floors. Give Voyageur Flooring a call today and we’d be glad to consult with you on your hardwood flooring project and see if we can help!
From time to time, Voyageur Flooring posts Before and After pictures on the Voyageur Flooring blog, although we will continue to post new Before and After pictures here, we also launched our Before and After gallery on our website: www.VoyageurFlooring.com. The reason we have Before and After pictures in both places, is because some visitors to our website don’t know about the blog, and other visitors like to comment on our pictures which you can do on the blog.
Voyageur Flooring is committed to becoming Minnesota’s choice for Hardwood Flooring. We hope that our pictures and information pretaining to those pictures help Minneapolis, St. Paul and greater Twin Cities homeowners in their specific situations.
Voyageur Flooring will be rolling out new changes to the blog and our main website (www.VoyageurFlooring.com) very soon. On the main site (www.VoyageurFlooring.com) you are soon going to see letters of reference from our customers. We are going to be posting these letters because we frequently have homeowners request them. We have a lot of very satisfied customers and we at Voyageur Flooring want you to know that so you’ll feel comfortable using Voyageur Flooring for your own hardwood flooring needs. Soon on our blog you will find a question and answer forum. We are going to have a new page on the blog that will catalog questions we’ve received from Minneapolis, St. Paul and greater Twin Cities homeowners in hopes that it will serve as a resource for others.
Voyageur Flooring worked in this home in Highland Park (Saint Paul, MN) recently and this home is a prime example of how Voyageur Flooring takes pride in the details. You can see the yellow tint in the hardwood floor in the before picture (which again is a result of an oil based finish product), but also take notice of the radiator which is common in older Minneapolis and St. Paul, MN homes. Voyageur Flooring took its time to ensure that we sanded in and around the radiator to ensure that the hardwood floor underneath the radiator received the same amount of sanding as the rest of the hardwood floor. The hardwood floor turned out beautifully and the homeowner was thrilled!
Voyageur Flooring had a challenge on its hands when it refinished the hardwood floors in this South Minneapolis, MN home. This home’s wood floors had been neglected: look at the stains and build up in the before pictures. This hardwood floor also had a yellow tint which is a result of an oil based polyurethane finish being used the last time this hardwood floor was refinished. You can tell from the after picture that Voyageur Flooring took the time & really worked hard on the stressed areas of the hardwood floor. The stains and build up are gone in the after picture and the hardwood floor has returned to a more natural state.
Recently Voyageur Flooring worked with a homeowner in Eastern Minnesota towards Hudson, that wanted custom Wood Flooring done around their fireplace. Voyageur Flooring installed new wood flooring in their family room and also created a custom hardwood flooring border that is seen in the picture below. Voyageur Flooring likes to work on special projects such as this that use hardwood flooring in a way that’s a little different. If you are thinking of refinishing/sanding your hardwood floors or installing wood floors that are custom and unique like the picture below, call Voyageur Flooring today to request a FREE in home estimate (651.226.0093), or visit our website at www.VoyageurFlooring.com.
The above picture was taken at a home in an old Minneapolis neighborhood that Voyageur Flooring recently worked in. Often times in older Minneapolis, and St. Paul homes, you’ll find that homes have hardwood floors on the entire first floor and sometimes the second floor as well. This wood floor is a great example of a hardwood floor that needs to be refinished. You can see that the wood floor has received heavy traffic and you can also see a yellow tint to the hardwood floor. This tint comes from oil based finish that was used last time this wood floor was sanded and refinished.
You can now see the difference between a hardwood floor that’s been refinished with a water based product versus an oil based product. This Minneapolis Hardwood Floor now looks more natural and is void of that yellow tint you see in the first picture of this wood floor. One of the major advantages of a water based finish is the odor. It is much less invasive and doesn’t have that “toxic” smell of an oil based product. In addition to that advantage, the wood floor has more pop to it. You can see the grain patters and details in the wood much more easily.
