A great example of a hardwood floor refinish and stain. If you are a Minnesota (minneapolis or st. paul) homeowner and are thinking refinishing your floors, call Voyageur Flooring today, we CAN HELP!
Here is a link to more pictures and our free estimate page. Keep in mind we do estimates in the weekends and evenings when you’re home and its most convenient. Unlike the “big guys” in our market, we try to be flexible and meet you at convenient times (ya know, when you’re not working).
In today’s marketplace, you can’t be in business and expect to be the only company offering a service or product. In fact, it’s often the case that your key competitors provide stiff competition and are at the very least worthy adversaries. Sometimes they flat out kick your butt (I know from experience)! When it comes to Minnesota Hardwood Flooring services, it’s no different – consumers have a lot of options. Voyageur Flooring would love to think that we are the only option – but we’re not quite their yet! Maybe a few acquistions down the road we can say that :)…
I recently read a book by Seth Godin called The Dip which talks a lot about being the best at your given craft within “your world”. At Voyageur Flooring we believed from the beginning that we could be a good company. However, since reading Seth Godin‘s book, I’ve discovered that it would be more noble for Voyageur Flooring to aim, not at being good, but rather being the absolute best. The moral of the book is that when one takes on a worthy task (like becoming the best at something) that they will inevitably experience times when they feel like giving up – this time is called the The Dip. The Dip stops people from progress – the book does a great job of explaining why its worth pushing through The Dip.
Voyageur Flooring believes that it can be the best in “our world” when it comes to Minnesota Hardwood Flooring services. We are a young company but have energy and a focus on becoming the best. Check out our website to see some of our work and to read a little more about who we are…I think you’ll like us (www.VoyageurFlooring.com).
I realize that this blog is about Hardwood Flooring and the aforementioned book review has nothing to do with our topic. However, sometimes you read something or are exposed to something that simply helps frame life a little more clearly. I believe it’s worth sharing when something like that happens…
Push through The Dip,
The four most common reasons to refinish the hardwood floors in your home:
1. Preparing to sell your home: often times refinished hardwood floors can give a home that’s being prepared to go on the market a refreshed look. In today’s real estate market, refinishing your hardwood floors may give you a needed advantage over the other homes that are for sale in your neighborhood.
2. Spruce up a home you just purchased: prior to moving in all of your belongings, refinishing your hardwood floors can be easily done in an empty house. Living in a home that is being worked on can be a pain so it’s a good idea to accomplish as much as possible while the home is empty.
3. Your hardwood floors haven’t been refinished in 7-10 years: homeowners often procrastinate the refinishing of their hardwood floors. If you occupy the home, moving furniture and getting ready for a company to refinish your hardwood floors can be a chore. Their are many benefits that you can read about on Voyageur Flooring‘s website.
4. Removing of carpet: if you live in an older home and have rooms that have old carpet, there’s a good chance that hardwood flooring lies beneath your old carpet. Removing the old carpet is a great time to refinish your hardwood floors. Belongings and other objects have already been removed from the room and the hardwood floor probably will have dirt, scuff marks, tack marks from the carpet and other left over remnants from the carpet that need to be cleaned – this is a perfect chance to refinish your hardwood floors.

Despite the cold weather that we’ve had recently, Voyageur Flooring has been hard at work helping homeowners in the Twin Cities with their hardwood flooring needs. One of our most recent customers in St. Louis Park (a Minneapolis suburb) asked Voyageur Flooring to refinish their hardwood floors. The hardwood floor turned out great and is a wonderful example of the quality of work that Voyageur Flooring is committed to! Take a look below and see for yourself or you can visit our newly designed Before and After Gallery on our site…

Often times we at Voyageur Flooring here the question: how long does hardwood floor refinishing take? Although every hardwood floor is different, hardwood floor refinishing usually takes 2-3 days. Our goal at Voyageur Flooring is to sand the hardwood floor on day one. Upon completion of hardwood floor sanding, Voyageur Flooring then thoroughly cleans the hardwood floor by vacuuming the hardwood floor. Once the hardwood floor surface has been cleaned, Voyageur Flooring will apply one coat of water based polyurethane. That usually concludes day one. Day two Voyageur Flooring buffs the hardwood floor and applies another coat of water based polyurethane to the hardwood floor. This step is repeated by the end of the second day. In some cases with older Minneapolis/St. Paul homes, the hardwood floor needs extra sanding or perhaps repair and in these cases its not uncommon to have the process take three days. Voyageur Flooring has created a new program for REALTORS and Real Estate investors. Our new program allows homeowners who need to refinish their hardwood floors, as part of preparing their home for the market, the opportunity to have the work done and then pay Voyageur Flooring when the home sells. Voyageur Flooring knows that homes going on the market need to be crisp and clean in order to compete with other homes on the market in a time when the inventory of homes is high. Our program for REALTORS and investors is simple: if your client or your home needs its wood floors refinished, Voyageur Flooring will refinish the hardwood floors for 50% up front, and when the home closes, we collect the balance from the homeowner. If the listing should expire, Voyageur Flooring will collect the balance when the listing expires. As a REALTOR, offering this service to your clients is a must. It will make the home look better and hopefully sell more quickly. It also offers REALTORS a way to distinguish oneself from competition by aligning your business with a company such as Voyageur Flooring who is willing to work with homeowners and help in the preparation process. If you have questions or want more information on Voyageur Flooring‘s new program, please don’t hesitate to call Jake Witham (Director of Business Development) and he will give you more details.
